Could be indoors Blacksmith/welder making repairs to equipment and existing structures. Mostly quiet unless running propane or gas welders. Quiet if using electric. Overhauling equipment, Long hours. Standby, regular hours. Fabricating parts normal hours usually quiet except when cutting, drilling, grinding, or using other power equipment.
Outdoors, new construction with or without noise. Riveters, screw guns, banging steel etc. Hammers construction equipment. Bridge or other road work deals with traffic noise, rain, heat, cold, etc. etc. etc.
Get the picture yet. Could be anywhere, anytime, under a myriad of conditions.

For what it is worth, certified welders are in extremely high demand right now. While the rest of the economy is suffering, manufacturing, particularly, fabrication of steel components, is booming. People are working seven twelves throughout the US. My recommendation would be to contact your local union hall and sign up for an apprenticeship program. They will be more than helpful. Our trades are dying fast in the US. If you decide to stick with, welcome to the trades.
