Tank Vents

09/17/2008 3:17 PM

Today for some strange reason, I am having no luck with finding a distributer of Tank Vents.

The vents needed are of the bell shape, either cast aluminum or brass/bronze. They have a floating ball to stop water from entering in the reverse direction and are also equipped with flame screen for fuel tank applications.

These vents are commonly used in marine applications such as tug boats, ships, oil rigs.

Generally this is simply a shipyard item, but not today. if anyone out there has sourced these in the past, your help would be appreciated.

Yeah I love EMD's. It started when I was 12Yrs old hanging at the D&H Railroad roundhouse facilty in Rouses Point,NY back in 1964 during summer vacation. That would not be allowed today for liability reasons, but I think it could be inspirational for young people to be able to do it.Those old engineers showed me the ropes, how to pre-trip,fuel,start and stop a locomotive, and my favorite part was moving the engine onto the turntable into or out of the shop.(of course the engineer was on board behind me telling me what to do)That feeling I got from moving that huge machine sealed my fate as to what I was going to do with my life.I've been around diesels in one form or another since and eventually got EMD certified, among other things, while working in various capacities on ships eventually becoming chief eng.I'm going to enroll for college soon.Kind of the reverse of what most people do.anyway good luck on your project,Skip Jamison

I don't know about a source in Mexico but this is a manufacturer who I get valves from through a distributor. Link.
