Aggregates for Cement or Concrete

09/24/2008 1:58 PM

Hello there,

I'm going to be involved in aggregates plants projects and I would like to know what is the function that aggregates materials accomplish when are mixed with cement or concrete?

This is because I would like to have a better sight of why and how to design a aggregates plant.

Best Regards.

dear

your question is not clear to me ,but i assume that you want to add cement ,while aggregate is mixed in the plant. You are close to dry mixing ,system ,and adding water at the time of concreting at site.

In my view ,if u want to add cement at the time coarse aggregates are manufactured, then mixing of cement will be cumbersome ,otherwise i dont see any gain .pl clarify the question for a better reply

The aggregates help mix the cement but also slow the heat from the chemical reaction of concrete drying. It is a careful balance with water, rock and portal.

How big and where??

What kind of source rock - limestone, basalt, metamorphic-marble, igneous/gabbro granite????

Since you didn't ask about sand - I presume you are not working on a batch plant

If you are designing a aggregate crushing and screening plant and your level of knowledge is indicated by your question - May the gods be merciful on you and any concrete made with your aggregate.

Function of aggregate is

1. Filler to Reduce the amount of cement you use per cubic meter

2. Binder core to provide the cement with smaller distance of cement between rigid, stronger material that the cement itself is if only cement

3. the gradation of aggregate is to reduce the distance between individual aggregate pieces and the total volume of cement used

4. sand is also added to further fillin between indiviudal grains, reduce the voids and reduce the cement
