SOUR SERVICE

I want to know what does this sentence means ' Tube side of this heat exchanger is in sour service' what kind of consumables i should prefer for this heat exchanger ? This sour service is related with the impact strength of weld joint?

Sour means it's exposed to acidic conditions, particularly sulfurous conditions. As welding has 2 disimilar metals in the joint, exposure to sour conditions will hasten corrosion and weaken the joint greatly.

"Sour Service" means that is a service that contains H2S. If you are in an Oil&Gas upstream plant then you've to satisfy all the requirements of NACE MR 0175 / ISO 15156.

There are specific requirements in terms of hardness for welding depending on the type of materials you're welding.
