It really depends on what you are trying to do with it. There are several applications of which each will demand certain considerations to be taken into account. If you are monitoring a small signal current, you will want an instrumentation CT in the range of your expected current. As a general rule, the more turns you have, the higher the output voltage (and noise) will be.
