I have in my library an ancient book, "High Performance CAD Graphics in c", by Lee Adams. By ancient, I mean the copyright date is 1989. It is a very, very good primer on screen graphics in c. I have never had a need to move on to c++ or c#, so it is not clear to me how applicable the ancient c language techniques would be for your project. I would suspect this book (or a more up-to-date decendent) would be available on the Internet, maybe even free. There are a number of sites on the internet where older digitized books are becoming available. Of course, most information, like everything else in this world, has a value proportional to what you pay for it...
