Milk products are tested for protein content, in order to make more money just add water and then melamine to boost the protein value. Result - malnourished children with stones. The long term result of a complete lack of faith in dairy products will be a greater calcium deficiency in a population that already suffers badly from this deficiency.

For the same reason as faulty products have been sold:

Lack of Honour

Many people are involved, including competitor Companies and Government inspection agencies - All obviously get a back-hander payment to "look the other way".

Lack of respect for the Company or agency those people are supposed to be working for.

Lack of respect for the customers, causing hundreds of deaths and lifetime injuries.

The persons concerned have an established history of lying and cheating.

The important thing for those concerned is "Loss of Face", rather than admit to all above.

The poisoned milk (for that's what it was), problem was known over six months ago, but the Company which was the first to get caught out did advise their local "Government Inspection Agency", but it was all hushed up, the milk continued to be poisoned, because of "The Olympics and if it became public, they would "Lose Face".

Unfortunately New Zealand's largest Company, Fonterra, with vast experience in dairy products and farms, who have been advising China re Dairy farming and helped set up processing plants, did have the poisoning concealed from them, and when Fornerra found out, it was them who blew the whistle.

Some 38 different dairy companies in China have been discovered so far, poisoning milk and milk products.

As far as our family goes, we have made a decision not to purchase any food item of origin in China, because of the lying, cheating, cover-ups of various kinds, along with no proper checking of products or Quality Assurance procedures.

The reason is simple: The risk of being poisoned is too great.

As far as non-food items, for us it is the same: Buy from elsewhere, rather than accept the risks, just because the item may be cheaper.
