Ford GT "TT"

10/09/2006 9:59 AM

While CR4 isn't a car forum I thought this group might appreciate some great automotive tinkering. Summary: Start with a stock Ford GT add 2 turbos resulting in over 1000hp and 900ft/lbs of torque.

And it does 0-to-manufacture recall in less than 4 seconds. ;-)

Yes, Driver and Passenger airbags are standard my safety conscience friend. Was that what was holding you back from buying one?

Ancient technology still uses the same concept as a model T. Have a look at this, similar performance, and its electric.

Is anybody familiar with Jeremy Clarkson? A Big, loud mouthed TV motoring journalist that Ford 'allowed' a GT. This has proven itself to be the most unreliable car ever; in the hands of the worst person you would possibly consider owning one. Oooops!

Yes!! Very big Top Gear fan myself. And I agree he would be the worst person to "give" it too. Ford should restricted use to The Stig only.

You should see his video, "Clarkson Unleashed" and what he does to cars he really hates. Playing conkers with a couple of Russian cars strung up from cranes is interesting but the Corvette vs. helicopter gunship is better.

I'll have to check that one out...The one where he shots them off the air cannon is pretty funny. The Toyota diesel pickup was pretty impressive as well.

Actually the "Otto Cycle" 4 stroke engine was only developed in 1876, 3 years after "modern" DC motor was invented be Gramme. So I guess it could be argued the Electric Motor is the ancient technology, just a newer application but only if you don't count BEV's switched solenoid vehicles of the 1830's. In my option the only thing Tesla is doing which it original is a better marketing campaign with a more performance oriented setup.

I looked at the link and can't seem to find the similar performance you claim....the manufacturer states top end speed in excess of 130 Mph...0 to 60 in aprox. 4 seconds...This is surprising to me (I didn't have any idea electric cars were capable of these speeds already). I see that the rating is aprox 248 Hp and I would like to know how fast is the 1/8 mile / 1/4 mile speed and distance 0-130 is. Those numbers are much quicker with this Ancient Technology concept with over 1000 Hp.....I don't think the teslamotors car is anything similar to this Ford GT in acceleration performance. But I am impressed with the Tesla offerings performance versus emmisions.....

With an electric car versus a reciprocating engine powered car you need to allow for the loss in the transmission etc. All those moving parts add up to a considerable loss compared to the handful of bearings in the Tesla.

Personally I have always wanted to build a super high performance hybrid. The idea goes like this:

1/. Forget about economy we're going for grunt here

2/. 3,000 Hp gas turbine driving the generator with any thrust directed upwards to improve traction and road holding.

3/. 4 stepper motors one driving each wheel.

4/. μ processor based integrated motor drivers and control system.

It would be fairly simple to build a control system for the stepper motors and you could use them for deceleration and steering as well. Trying to switch that much power could be a challenge but you can buy everything else you need off the shelf.

What do you think?
