Wanted: 2011 T3 Aluminum

10/21/2008 10:26 AM

I have recently been informed that I can not get 2011 T3 Aluminum in the states anymore but I can still get it overseas at the same high cost that Aluminum has gone to in the past few years. Since aluminum has come down significately in the US what can I use now that is equivalent to the 2011 and Rohs compliant?

You probably ought to check a bit further regarding the availability of 2011-T3 in the U.S. To my knowledge (and a quick web search will confirm) it's still readily available in rod, bars and wire from several suppliers. This alloy and temper is typically used for screw machine products.

I haven't heard that 2011 T3 is no longer available. Try dealers that service the screw machine industry. http://www.yarde.com/ http://www.ryerson.com/index.asp http://www.novamerican.com/ These are a few that come to mind. There are lots more. This magazine probably has more leads; http://www.productionmachining.com/zones/metalworking/screw-machines-multi-spindle.aspx

Good Luck!
