Design for Viscous Liquid Substance

10/23/2008 11:11 PM

pls help, my boss ask me about designing a recycled pump and filter for a very much viscous material with chemical characteristics pls also provide if I will need other accessories for preventing quick evaporation of the substance;

Boiling point: 154 deg. centigrade

Vapor Pressure (mm Hg): 9.75mm Hg @ 38 deg. centigrade

Solubility in water: Insoluble

Specific gravity (H2O=1): 0.94-0.96

Melting point: Less than 0 deg. centigrade

Vapor density (air=1): heavier than air

Evaporation rate: Less than 1 (Butyl acetate=1)

You can use a peristolic pump with probably tygon tubing.

Try different sizes of brass filters to get the purity you want. I would pump the stuff up to tank and let gravity flow thru the filter to a holding tank..

Dear Guest, Research the Tesla Fluid pump. It can handle liquids, gases, non-miscible materials, paints, fly-ash, even shear sensitive liquids.

Yes, the Tesla Fluid style would probably be an appropriate choice, see:
