	Hello Guest, You do not advise what material is being lifted, nor where it is being lifted, nor how high you are lifting it, nor if the 40 tons must be lifted as a single unit (all at the same time). Thus I shall give you a general answer, because you have not been specific. Methods Simple: Lever + blocks - a wee bit at a time Lifting jack. Air bag Hydraulic hoist If you care to be more specific, you may well obtain a much better answer to your question.
