Motion Sensitive Cameras

how does the camera sense motion and determine the direction towards which it shifts to?

The security gaurd watching on the cctv controls the camera.

the video is mapped to memory and the number of changes pixels is detected. The software has an adjustable number of changes pixels to trip it, so you set it to detect a fly or an elephant, or in between.

The slow progression from night to day will not trigger it. clouds before the sun and lightning might trigger it.

This is a mature, well developed technology, made cheaply in China, so google for it like so.
