Do not depend on any theory for this. You will have to learn it yourself on your job or else you will get fired.

Dear friend,

I am very happy that you took the answer in good spirit. I said it out of my own experience . Way back in 1963 on completion of my engineering studies, I was straight away put on charge of electrical maintenance of a large tool room with most modern sophisticated machine tools(of that time) .With no senior person available to get advice and to maintain the shop with non qualified but skilled workmen( with experience) it was tough job.The lessons we learn at college is only a base to learn and the engineering field is so vast and fast changing that you will be forced to learn every day with advancement of technology and the quality of man power development. We learn as and when change happens in technology development and change of methods (Manpower management, Time and motion study,SQC , quality improvement methods, management information system, energy conservation and management and the list is end less ) .There is no single fixed formula or rule. The first computer I installed for my organisation was spread in a full room with another room filled with number of card punching machines and card readers and stock of very large spools of read and write magnetic tapes. The electrical panel was so large with relays and cable. The man power requirement was large .To day a table top server can store and operate thousand times more job than that with single person to operate. So learn and change with time.Wish you a bright future.

Is this Jeopardy? My answer is "What are two questions usually asked in freshman manufacturing engineering courses?"
