Motor Speed and Power Factor

is there any relation between speed of motor and power factor?

Hi,

For induction motor PF Power P= 1.732 VI Cos Pi. The rated output is related to the Power Factor.

It appears that you have modified the earlier thread with an addition "motor". There are so many types of motors. So again some one has to make a guess to answer your thread. Is there any point in putting up a thread with out clear understanding of the subject. Please explain your question clearly to get a proper answer.

There can be a relationship, in that PF varies with load, and speed may also vary with load. Also, for some of the same reasons that motor efficiency varies with speed, you'd expect PF to vary with speed.

A good way to get a feel for the relationships might be to get a power factor/watt meter and experiment.

As pointed out PF varies with load .Now when load is reduced speed increases.so u can draw ur conclusions.This is for a induction motor of both types.

For a series-wound DC motor? None whatsoever.....
