storm data

11/02/2008 2:38 AM

dear friends, I have an idea for a "storm harvester" -a unique mobile huge wind turbine, for feasibility calculations I need data for regions on earth that prone to be "stormy"- that they have often storms, that their wind speed is from 20 m/s and more, of course a very important factor should be-how much time lasts such a storm? How can I get this data about wind speed and its duration about storms on different regions on the globe?

Contact your local weather bureau for information. If heavy storms aren't common in your area, or if you want to know about storm data in other parts of the world, google for the weather bureaus in the regions you're interested in, then email them for information.

Even more importantly, how fast and at what cost can you get such huge mobile wind harvester delivered to wherever it needs to be?

if 7 to 30 days for delivery works for you, then perhaps you could get a frieght quote from these folks:

best regards.

Around the Cape of South America, (Cape Horn) is prone to large storms. But not to rain on your parade, you mention a storm harvester with wind speeds of 20 m/s or more. If the storm is too severe, won't it cause power lines to go down and make your device useless? At least until repairs are made.

How about all the offshore wind turbines being built? I understand the UK now has the largest wind farm offshore. Maybe your device will prove useful in this type of setting.
