Renewable Energy (Wind turbine)

10/13/2006 3:43 AM

Hi all

I am currently involved in a wind energy project in Nigeria and we are looking for a wind turbine supplier to deliver a cost effective system. Could anybody assist us with some contacts?

It would depend on how much money you had in your budget. Are you looking for many small units to power single dwellings or do you want to build a farm for a larger population? Do you have any idea on how much power you are trying to produce and do you know what the avarage wind speed is?If I knew some of these paramenters I might know who to send in your direction. James

Sure.

I have bought units from Juan Bornay in Spain http://www.bornay.com/ which are very robust and up to 6kW.

The USA based Bergey http://www.bergey.com/ may have their 50kW unit finished by now. (I did find them hard to deal with, like they're only interested in the USA market)

Then there's Eoltec with their 75kW Chinook turbine and a few others.

Kestrel are a South African turbine manufacturer http://www.kestrelwind.co.za/

Southwest Windpower have a nice range.

Hope this helps

Mark

Hi you could look at this

The VOITH WEC 520 wind energy converter conceived as a self-supporting electric generator for mains and island operation was tested. A microcomputer was installed for process control. The rotor blades of the two-blade rotor is equipped with a separate measuring system to determine their oscillation behavior. Wind velocity, wind direction, rotor blade angle, rotor speed, rotor power, control oil pump pressure, and control pressure for rotor blade change are permanently measured.

I'm from Texas where a portion of my power is wind generated. There are over 50,000 wind turbines in west Texas. The company that generates the power is Green Mountain Energy. They may tell you where they got theirs. Also, by using a smaller windmill as a wind directional locater you may increase the efficiency. Please let me know who you chose as a manufacturer and good luck.

I have a few friends who work for LM Glassfiber, a company which designs and manufacturers the blades for wind turbines. I believe General Electric is one of there largest purchasers, so i would assume GE could supply the entire assembly. http://www.lmglasfiber.com/

Hi there, sounds interesting. I know Eskom is currently putting this under test. Try to go to their website on www.pbmr.co.za they might be of great help to you. Hope your project succeeds

HI

This is Satish. I was in touch with various suppliers of wind turbines a few months ago when we thought of the project.

Trust me, SUZLON in india is value for money. they are very good in engg and have recently taken over a blade maker in europe. they r very cost effective also.
