Equipment rating

11/04/2008 4:00 AM

Please help me to clarify some question.

Below are circuit breaker's rating that the employer request

rated voltage: 275kV

rated maximum voltage: 300kV

basic impulse insulation level: 1050kV

power frequency withstand voltage: 460kV

lightning impulse withstand voltage: 1050kV

I wish to know that can the circuit breaker with the following rating comply the requirement of the employer. Please give the reason.

rated voltage: 330kV

rated maximum voltage: 363kV

basic impulse insulaton level: 1175kV

power frequency withstand voltage: 510kV

lightning impulse withstand voltage: 1175kV.

Yes it suits your requirement technically as all parameters are more than the requirement of the employer. But it may be little costlier which may be verified.

Electrical parameterwise the equipment meet the demand of the voltage class selected.

However, please note that in an outdoor switchyard, the dimension of the equipment play a role in determining clearances. So you need to check.

By the way, where are these equipment proposed to be installed.

best wishes
