I doubt you will get a specific answer/design to your solution through this forum - there is just too much involved and there is no way a proper answer can be given with the limited information.

I do not think a tripod is an appropriate thing for you to use. A tripod will do fine lifting your load as long as the movement is confined to straight vertical lifts only. You are going to have to move your battery pack out from under the tripod, unless you plan on moving the forklift out from under the hanging battery.

Be safe. Borrow, rent or steal another forklift to do this job. 3,000 pounds of battery is nothing to treat casually. There are also engine hoists that are available for rent that can lift your required load safely, and are equipped with wheels to allow movement.

I have installed handling facility for battery charging rooms. Some customers who had strong truss in building had suspended monorail ('I' Beam) from the truss or had erected inverted 'U' structure and installed a Chain Pulley Block with Trolley to handle the batteries.

looking for a i beam attached underneath the head guard and extening outside the forklift with a tripod. Head guard height of 85"width of battery of 38"

Idea for customer with no access of other means of lifting.

Can you suggest anything?

A simple tripod will allow only one lift point. Any weight hung from it will try to be directly under that point. For your plan to work SAFELY, you will need two additional legs, and take one of your three legs, and lift it till it spans the space between the two bipods. Two sets of tilted poles joined by a horizontal cross bar. The overhead crossbar will allow your battery to be slid, or rolled from forklift to above ground. It is the same idea as yours, except made wider. Good luck.
