I am currently using a goss urbanite printing press. The major problem am facing is extreem ink leakages at the two ends of the ink duct. I there a chemial i can use to stop theses leakages?
I am not extremely familiar with the Goss press but I do have an Aquaflex press and I have been around many Offset presses from Didde web to Miller sheetfed. Typically when your ductor rollers are leaking it is usually because the metering blade is worn out. On most presses these are easily replaceable and the quickest fix.
If indeed it is the end caps (I have also had this be the problem) you can remove them and have them milled down about 1/8th of an inch and attach a nylon spacer in there to fill the gap. Its best to dry run it for about 15 to 20 minutes gradually tightening the end caps from loose to fully tightened to allow the the new surfaces to mill in to the shape of the ductor roller ends. This will make for a good seal that is replaceable and long lasting. I recommend that you have them remade in such a way that you will attach them with a couple of couonter sunk bolts placed in such a way that they dont interfere with the blade or the roller, to prevent the causing any problems as the seals wear down.
Teflon is also a good alternative but takes a lot longer to run in.
Hope this was helpful.
