Hi Priyan,

Floor drain - is a plumbing fixture that is installed in the floor of structure, mainly designed to removed any standing water around it. if i would design or do the installation it should always fitted with "P trap" to stop or trap foul smell coming from the sewer line.

The waste water from your kitchen and bathroom is piped to a gully before emptying into the sewer.

Gully trap - is a basin in the ground with a water seal to prevent foul odor of the sewer reaching the surface.

If you are confused in short, they both have trapping purpose, however different in application.

Kind regards

Roman
