Medical device companies are using large volumes of various forms of Nitinol. I'd suggest going to manufacturers web pages for primers on the material. It is magic stuff and really needs to be understood before you get too excited.

Generally available in small wire, tubing and strip, not large sheets in most cases. Basic catagories are, "Superelastic," and, "Shape Memory."

Memry Corp

Nitinol Devices Corp

These are big players/processors and provide good information for engineers.
