New Assembly Machine

10/14/2006 11:09 PM

I need help with machine design. Making a machine to press what is essentially a wooden ladder together is relatively straightforward however, I want to feed it with pieces from another machine. I need to design the assembly machine so it can accept automatic feeding later. There are some variables of course. Verticals 25 mm x 10 mm and from 28-190 cm. Horizontals of three types are 10 mm x 17.5 mm and either 30 or 60 cm long. Press is to seat blind dovetails on both sides of vertical with preset very precise fixed regular spacing. No glue, very hard wood. There are more variables, but more later. Absolute precision and quality required. Making these little pieces of wood and keeping track of them is another problem.

ATS Automation is a major automation company. Not sure if your project is business venture or a sideline for fun. If you have a solid budget get in touch with them. They have worked with a number of high and low profile companies in a lot of different industries. http://www.atsautomation.com/ is the web site.
