Hallo,

here we parallel run 10MW DG set with grid. Its governor control have old ones

ASAC70 actuatore & DIGOII control cards (ABB). in a control card KW control not working ( it have two mode of operation 1.speed droop & 2.fix kw mode)

so we run the engine in speed droop mode but in this mode dg load vary with grid veriable frequence

what is sensing in speed droop mode? what is sensing in kw control mode?

why dg load vary with grid frequence veriation

The problem what u r facing of changing in load on DG as change in grid frequency is natural phonomenan, because as your DG governer control in speed control mode and when frequency of gril which is normally connected to ur DG is same and DG trie to adjust with that frequency and resultant change in output i.e. load KW, so its natural

but when u drive governer control in contant kw mode, DG always trie to maintain its output kw constant with irrespective to its output frequency although lower limit of output frequency is also alrelady set,

if DG governor in speed control mode which is try to maintain grid freq. due to this load variation observed but the max. grid variation only vary between 48 to 50Hz(2Hz)

but asper dg specialist he does not allow to dg run in speed control with grid

& also i was observed in this mode one person continue to watch load on dg & adjust

because dg have more load variation it gradually comes down---down or gradually comes up----up within 1/2 hrs thats grid variation have very small

now problem is dg is under commissioning stage ( old one) & they want to continue run in speed control mode with grid ( kw control not working)

can it possible dg in speed control mode parallel with grid for continuous operation?

True ....but here i like to add this that our plant is also IPP plant and running on KW mode but if system/ grid frequency changes also KW out put changes .

it means on KW mode machine out put also changes with frequency variation.

If you are asking can you run your DG set and synchronise to the grid so as to reduce your demand on the grid? Then the answer is yes.

It is not possible to run the DG in Speed control mode with grid parallel condition .if you calculate Mw/Hz it comes around 10Mw/50Hz ,it comes around 200kW per hertz change in the grid ,so the impact on the DG will be much, Put your Kw controller and avoid continous monitoring of Dg load .It is not good for the Dg under such variation load,Engine will be affected much and it wil cost you too much for repair and maintanance ,if u think for putting the Kw control.
