Grade of material in seamless pipe of ASTM / API / ISO / Indian Standard

Gents,

We are going fabricate a Pressure Vessel (sort of gas cylinder) having Diameter 21Inch & length of 10.5 feet with both side dishends. Test pressure is approx.3500 psig.

The requirement is as below:-

Mechanical properties：

Standard codes Models of steel tubes Tensite strength（MPa） Yield strength（MPa） Yield ration Elongation（％） Absorbed-in-fracture energy（J） Hardness
Q/321088HGB3 4130X 725～865 485～735 ≤0.85 ≥20 －40℃≥40 195～269HB

Chemical composition:

Can anyone suggest Grade of material in seamless pipe of ASTM / API / ISO / Indian Standard????

It seems your question is related to SAE 4130X steel which is just specified for gas cylinders and if I think it was approved by US DOT for such use.

Just google SAE 4130X.

You plan on heat treating this to get the properties, Right?

Anyone suggesting a grade would be the engineer of record. Getting engineer of record over the internet in a public forum seems ???

I note that your table specifes Vanadium rather than Aluminum for Grain size. Do you know Why?

Wall thickness?

You want to find 21inch diameter 4130 seamless pipe?

Hopefully Abdel Halim Galala will chime in on this one.

Perhaps I have misunderstood. If you go to www.chesterfieldcylinders.com, you will find there a company that specialises in manufacturing large diameter cylinders, in accordance with whatever standard you require. To attempt to manufacture a cylinder like this when there are people who specialise in such tasks seems to me to be highly risky, since that cylinder at high pressures is a bomb. Or perhaps you have already considered this route of manufacture ?
