Material for Infeed Worm

11/20/2008 10:47 PM

Dear Friend,

I've been looking for material used on infeed worm manufacturing. We have already been made the worm from Nylon (we didn't know what the grade of nylon), but it scratched to the PET bottles after it use on the labelling process for several time.

Can anybody suggest me the proper material used on infeed screw for PET bottle labelling process? I've been thinking for aluminum alloy teflon coated to solve this problem, can't this?

Regards

Sliding friction is a characteristic of worm feeds. This problem may be intrinsic to your design. It the scratching came from the housing the worm rotates within then coating that might solve the problem without a redesign.

If you can replace the worm with air pressure the redesign could be simple.

Best wishes,

Mr. Gee
