Improving Data Storage

As we start to approach the Superparamagnetic Limit, scientists are trying to develop new techniques to improve data storage. Some researchers in the US and Germany have shown that they can effectively double the storage capacity of magnetic recording devices.

Holographic Memory?

Have they abandoned holographic memory already. I thought that it's vast storage potential was to good to be true. (Of course this might just be a stop gape until that technology is commercially ready.)

I doubt it; but it would have been harder to explain the unfortunate "sledgehammer incident" that would have happened.
