Spacer Dots

11/21/2008 1:22 PM

I am trying to find some information pertaining to spacer dots that are used in analog resistive touch screens (i.e. Palm, iPhone). I have not had much luck searching for information online. A lead to a company that manufactures them or the equipment would be ideal. But information related to size and pattern would also be appreciated.

Thanks

Hello

mfederkeil:

I am now able to reply from open forum, so all future replies with be like this, from open forum.

I hope you find this of use. From what I can glean, it sound like you would need to buy a factory with production line, rather than a machine to apply the dots? But all will become clearer when you visit the http://www2.electronicproducts.com site.

May I suggest you also get in touch with other subcontractors on this site and, also http://www.fcai.fujitsu.com. This is a very specialised area as I am sure you must realise. I would start by writing to the half dozen or so screen makers. And the Mobile phone makers.

Good luck...................

http://www2.electronicproducts.com/Choosing_a_resistive_touch_panel_for_HMI_apps-article-fujitsu-jun2006-html.aspx

The basic, top-to-bottom layer construction of a resistive touch panel consists of a hardcoat, flexible plastic film (PET), ITO resistive coating, spacer dots, ITO resistive coating, and the glass panel (see figure).

This company may well be able to help you either get a dot applying machine and a machine or facility to build the whole screen?

Wow, that's a lot info. Thanks babybear!

I had found some similar information. I am surprised that there doesn't seem to be any mention of material used or spacing anywhere.
