Induction Heating for BIO- MEDICAL Application

11/22/2008 1:12 AM

Hi Folks,

Can anyone throw some light on the use of " INDUCTION HEATING " process

in the field Cancer Treatment ( using NANO Particles )

Thanks.

The idea is quite simple. As someone pointed out in another thread, the devil is in the details.

The idea is to get tumor cells to take up metallic particles. One suggestion is gold nanoparticles. Exposure to rf at the appropriate frequency then heats those particles, cooking the tumor cells.

There is research going on in serious cancer centers around this idea. There are also scams being publicized. It's hard to tell the difference at this point.

Here's a link that shows the original (not the nutty) idea for using gold nanoparticles

Hello TVP45,

Many thanks for your prompt feedback & the links.

I am quite sure, that many of our forum members will greatly appreciate & understand

this complex subject of RF or Induction Heating to burn-out the CANCER CELLS.

I read with great interest about the Kanzius Machine & the GOLD NANOPARTICLES.

Thanks & Regards,

Hi P.R.,

"Advanced Magnetics Co." manufactures the ferromagnetic nanoparticles that are used in imaging and in experimental cancer therapy.

Inventor of imaging is Barentsz in Nimwegen, Holland, you will find his website, the met hot is called USPIO, there is another diagnostic group in Chicago that has adapted this too.

This is in reality not induction heating (no eddy current) but magnetic loss heating either by moving the particles or by magnetic hysteresis loss.

Same particles are used by famous Charitée clinic in Berlin, Germany for experimental treatment of brain cancer.

Particles are chemically bound to "vehicles" that preferably attach to cancer cells, so this is a very promising approach.

You will find some information on the websites of LEF and PCRI and on P2P and naturally on www.pubmed.gov

Unfortunately the imaging method was not approved by FDA as there was one unclear death at treatment. As these patients are severely ill I do not think that this was a sound decision, as diagnostics and treatment is delayed until the method is totally safe - thus killing a lot of patients that could have been saved.

So if you can try and implement the method outside US this would be a very important step towards better cancer treatment and diagnostics.

Dear RHABE,

Thanks. There seems to be a very good scope for our Engineering community to work

closely with chemists, Physicists & biologists to cure the deadly " CANCER "

tHERE SHOULD NOT BE ANY NANO PARTICALS INDUCTED INTO THE HUMAN BODY EVER,HERES WHY WHEN THESE PARTICALS ARE INTRODUCED THEY WILL KICK OUT CHROMOZONES AND CHANGE THE DNA THE RESULT WILL BE A CASE OF BLOWSERINFEXTION A HEAT DISERFACATION ON A CELLULAR LEVEL THE PATIENT WILL START EMITTING AND SPONTAINOUSLY COMBUST.
