Wow - I agree more information is required to give a decent answer.

However, I will just throw out there a few of the considerations from material selection:

  • corrosion/oxidation
  • strength (at temperature)
  • wear resistance
  • ease of fabrication
  • cost
  • material availability
  • applicable codes/standards
  • thermal/electrical properties desired
  • fatigue
  • weight
  • creep resistance
  • vibration damping
  • toughness
  • ..........
  • ......
  • ...
