what is the acceptable/recommended value of milli volt drop test in copper bus bar jouints used in LV switchgear panel?

Please see the numerous other threads on CR4 regarding this. Alternatively look at your local electrical standards and regulations for the value (it varies depending on which standard you are building to).

Dear Abhi,

I have come across some power supply/manufacturers check the Copper Bus bars for the low inductance values which bus bar exhibits when measured using precision LCR meters. It can be as low as severel 10 of nH to 100 of nH depending upon the size of the bus bar.

Since you referenced the busbar joints, I take it that you are interested in the voltage drop across the joints caused by the resistance of the joint.

Our practise is to use a Ducter or similiar micro-ohmeter to measure the joint resistance and refernce industry standard tables to ensure that the joint is of low enough resistance.

Torquing the bolting to the specified torque is vitally inportant since overtouquing can distort the busbar and increase the joint resistance.

High resistance joints will cause you problems especially with stareting large moteors etc. due to inrush currents.
