Actuators for Antennas

12/01/2008 4:00 PM

I would like to find appropriate actuators for large size satellite dishes 4m2. What kind of controllers would be suitable, at what cost? (C-band,Ku-band)

Hi Mike,

Almost missed this interesting thread... So, first a question: Are you looking for some form of auto-tracking (search, aquisition and lock) or more common "set & forget" associated with geosynchronous birds???

Please advise...

Hi GLB,

I'm looking to design a system that can track sun through out the day (heliostats), i believe that satellite tracking systems can be modified to do this task. Instead of dish I would like to mount large mirror on the bracket. I'm not sure of tracking precision, wind load stability and necessary tracking software and hardware (controllers etc).

Thanks for help.
