Induction Brazing - Fork Material

12/05/2008 7:47 AM

We are using Induction brazing setup to braze silver component (tip) with copper component. While doing this we have to hold the silver tip with fork inside the inductor coil, on the copper component. This fork we are using of SS material. But because of this, the fork-shape is heating immediately.

Which material of fork shall we use so that it will not get heatup, also we can get flexibility?

Can we apply some other material layer on the same SS material fork-shape so it can prevent heating of SS material?

Ceramic would do perfect. If geometry allows, even wood would work...

Does Ceramic have adhesion properties with SS? so I can apply it as of paint...

Solid ceramic rod no steel, any metal will heat up and and rupture ceramic sleeve.

Designers of induction heating coils can design a coil that preferentially heats the copper so that you won't heat your stainless steel part so quickly. You can try this by moving your assembly in your existing coil so that a portion of the stainless steel part is not in the coil. Your goal is to have both parts reach temperature at the same time.

My application is as shown in picture, only difference is here glass rod is used & I am using SS fork for ease of holding of silver button.
