Communication between DCS and ESD

12/07/2008 6:15 PM

How can we test the communication between DCS and ESD?

In testing the communication between Yokogawa's Centum CS3000 and Invensys's Triconex, the value of 819, 2457, 4590 will be sent from Invensys and DCS will show the 0%, 50% ,and 100% of the total value.

How about other safety system from yokogawa or honeywell?? what kind of value will be sent so that DCS will reflect 0%, 50%, 100% of the total value??

During the Analog signal test for Triconex(Invensys) with Centum CS3000(Yokogawa), the testing method is shown as above.

How about Prosafe(Yokogawa) with Centum CS3000(Yokogawa) and

Safety Manager(Honeywell) with Centum CS3000(Yokogawa)???

In the Triconex, there are system variables which are available via modbus if they are assigned aliases. I believe that one of them is the Triconex system clock which can be read via an assigned alias. If the clock is updating when you poll the tricon, you know the Tricon is hearing your transmission request, that it is updating its own clock and that it is responding to the poll.

If you need help with this, you might try calling Invensys Process Systems and ask for Triconex Technical Support at 866-746-6477 if you are in the U.S. or Canada If you are outside the U.S. you can try 1-508-549-2424.

You should know what Triconex Hardware and Software versions you are running before you call. Tell them that you need assistance programming the Tristation version you are running.

I used to work for them on another product line but my Tricon knowlege is weak to say the least.

Happy Holidays!
