tektronics scope problem

12/12/2008 4:36 AM

I have a Tektronics dual trace scope that recently stopped working. It is a model 465.If I cycle it off and on, I can see a trace briefly light the screen, otherwise I get no display, even beamfinder does not display the usual dot. All fuses seem to be ok. Anyone know the cause of this? Thanks,Keith

I hant used this type, but you can check from

1, is HV ok? if no HV apply , there will be no beam.

2. sawtooth scan wave ok? or apply on the scan plate?

3. check vertical scan plate voltage, to see if its zero between them.

3 grid voltage?

Cnpower is right, it sounds like a HV problem. Check your intensity control also, it might be bad.

Well, It is either a faulty tube or Fault in the HT section

"If I cycle it off and on, I can see a trace briefly light the screen, otherwise I get no display"

Yes, most probably it is the HT.

Hi, guest, to make sure it's CRT's fault, try to make this simple test:

Measure the grid voltage, it should be more than 150vdc, if the grid voltage good then disconnect CRT's cathode from pcb, turn it on then measure the cathode CRT pin, with grid pin 150vdc, the cathode should be more then 50vdc, if it is less then 50vdc, so i agree with you that the CRT is the problem.
