What is the function of a preventative auto in a power transformer with an under load tap changer(ULTC)?

I am not familiar with that term but there are times when you do not want the regulator to change taps so you put it in the non auto position. This prevents the motor from turning the tap changer.

Greetings harry potter, Nice to have you on board.

I am not sure you are aware that posting in all CAPS is the equivalent of SHOUTING over the internet. Just thought I would point this out to you so you will understand if you get some responses about your posts that may seem negative for no apparent reason.

Thanks for adding to the knowledge base, see ya in the forum. CJ
