Rehab Equipment Identification

12/15/2008 4:57 PM

Hi,

I have been asked to sell an item for an estate, but I have no idea what to call it. Can anyone tell me what it would be called? It was made by Bioflex. It offers range of motion scales & adjustable resistance. Looks like you strap the forearm in and then curl & rotate the wrist/hand. Thanks for your help.

I don't know what it's called, but it's definitely used to strengthen your wrists and forearms.

I think it's called a pronation/supination wheel. It appears to provide the same function as this item, although yours has more function/versatility. If you need further detail, try a local physical therapy clinic, or post your photos in the BioMech & BioMed forum.

It might be smarter not to call it anything; just let the bioflex label speak for itself. Anyone who would want it will know what it is, but not care what it's called, really. On the other hand, finding or coining a nomenclature is as likely to discourage as encourage interest. Since its only use (assuming it's not broken) is to repair a higher, bioflex-brand assembly, low price and extensive placement are the keys to getting shed of it. If you are a wholesaler, one hopes you did not pay and do not expect anything much for it.

It is actually to measure the angle achieved at a set tension; an evaluation tool to measure progress.

That particular outfit focuses on use of magnets as therapy.

Might be interesting to test its calibration.
