Back pressure turbo generator.

12/27/2008 4:40 AM

hallo,

there is one BPTG in our factory , which capacity is 0.9 MW , on a steam load of 14 MT /hr.

when this BPTG was installed then we had a generation of 14 MT/hr steam and after BPTG this steam was used in Pneumatic tools operation.

Now we have steam load of 7-8 MT/hr , so we are not running this BPTG , because of our saving calculations.

I want to know can this BPTG be derated for a load of 7-8 MT/hr steam load and how it can be done.

Details like single stage or multistage (how many?) type of nozzles, inlet and exhaust sizes, inlet and exhaust steam temperatures etc. shall help in advising the method.

you should be able to run at lower loads provided your inlet steam parameters are ok, however your outlet parameters will be lower. You can run and see. You can contact your turbine supplier also.
