Is this the Christmas or New Year 'Guess the Acronym Contest' ?
Is there a prize?

The only abbreviation that springs to mind is for a bulb fitting.

A Medium Edison Screw (MES) fitting.

But as to the 'infrastructure design' I will pass on that part....

Evening,

Taken from the wonderware website

Wonderware offers software solutions for Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) that feature a complete set of functional capabilities for consistent and effective execution of operational activities.

The above sentence is virtually meaningless, typical of muddlespeak.

That paragraph could have only been written by a sales manager trying to sell something he hasn't a clue about.

OK OK

I will try again for you!

Manufacturing execution systems serve as the intermediary between a business system such as ERP and a manufacturer's plant floor control equipment, helping to manage production scheduling and sequencing, creating an audit trail for track and trace, and delivering work instructions to shop floor workers.

In paper maufacturing the MES on a winder gives you the order numbers, reel diameter, length, grammage, etc etc. Some of this data is then passed to PLC to actually run this set.

IT can then report on when, what time how long long it took to rewind these reels.

Found in nearly all industry in some form or other.

Hope this helps??
