Notebook connect to Ac adapter

The battery pack powers the system. The ac adapter essentially charges the battery.

The only way to realise your request is to have a dc power supply unit with relevant specifications built into the laptop with a switch to alternate between the battery supply and the built in supply (Note:this is a suggestion for the manufacturers of the system, not for home practice)

But you may try, tapping the contacts of the input of the systems power supply circuit (ie where the battery output terminates) and connect to the relevant contact pins of the external power plug on the back or front side (depending on your viewing orientation) of the laptop. You Must ensure that the dc output of the ac adapter is same as the battery voltage.

Note: do not try this except you are trained to do so.

Note also, you must disconnect this tap, when you are ready to use the battery.

As Ethobil noted, the battery powers the laptop; so even if the battery is almost dead (like mine), I just keep it in the laptop and use the ac adaptor.
