FM modulator

12/30/2008 4:07 AM

I'm designing FM transmitter .In the modulator part I'm using a VCO (voltage controlled oscillator) NE566 which outputs a square & triangular wave output. But I need a sine wave in the out put. I have searched for DIP VCO with sine wave out put but couldn't find one. How can I change the square wave or the triangular wave to sine wave?....Is there VCO IC with DIP packaging with sine wave output at frequency not more than 20MHz??

Squash the square / triangle wave through a bandpass filter or just a low pass filter to remove the harmonics = a sine wave.

Are you developing an FM Modulator with a chip like you describe?

Do you think is the better option? ...instead of another oscilator. I know few integrated chips that could be easy for you, or another simple circuits with one transistor. If you feel, I can provide you the schematics or the information.
