how capacitor banks improve the power factor and what will be the in energy meter while connecting capacitor bank across the load.

capacitor and inductors both are reactive component. capacitor have the property opposition to the inductors.hence inductor absorbs more reactive power cause lagging power factor.so energy meter reads more unit eventhough we are using a few loads. in case we are connecting the capacitive bank across the inductive load .

capacitor has the property of boosting the signal (injects reactive power ).

so the power factor gets improved. so power consumption decreases. so energy meter reads less unit
