Get a good head hunter to place you in a better job or give your adv. in your local newspaper with your experience.

There are two different aspects

a) Improve myself

b) Change my company

I have worked in one company (the only) for more than a quarter century now. As far as the chance of improvement is there it always depended on and only on me.

It only depends on your voracity - read whatever topic you are stuck up with.

I was in quality dept of the organisation for more than 25 years and now am heading the manufacturing and maintenance dept of the same area.

The work in the maintenance dept i find much more satisfying and challenging than the all other roles. The fun is that each machine has its own feature. It is like being a veterinary doctor - and it has a tremondous potential for self improvement. (The Q dept i always called the mother of the product and the mfr the father, both of them are in bringing up its own babies and this job I found much easier).

But the maintenance have to keep others babies in good condition - for that you have to understand them - A day a VTL gives a problem, and parallely a HB is under B/D or it is a VMC, Center Lathe, Grinding and what not, and they are of different companies, different features, different design. It is really, believe it, fun and scope of learning and what you may call self improvement is infinite.

You work from tooling, to hydraulic to coolant to bearings, shaft, drive, transmission, controls (and unfortunately we have all possible controls in one place- GE-mark, Fanuc, Siemens...) for different machines.

Any way looks like the otherway round - yoyr self improvement is in your career - change

follow Ducon principle and an advice

Pl do not give your name, and e-mail address in the post- you may have burnt your boat (your boss might have logged on and seen this - and you have even used your office e-mail address - your company is known too)

As a senior management person, we do not take persons very kindly, who are flighty, and have not hinted us about their filight path and schedule. You must understand that each person in todays condition (minimum staff) are vital links in the chain and we have contingency plans but still we will love not to resort to these. And if I come to know that somebody is trying to activate it, I am not going to like it.

Keep it secret and spring a surprise on me- I cannot do anything. Even if you fail and I don't know - no problem for you .But try to spring it and fail well, you are no more my favourite.
