Your post here must mean that you either have no material supplier, or they can't help you.

If you don't know how to obtain material quotes, availability and delivery dates through your normal supplier, I suggest you go to E-Bay.

There may be people here who will help you, but, you should do your own homework first.

At the time of my posting the question I did not yet place a bid on the RFQ. I first tried to locate a supplier on the web. About as close as I got was a 6"X6" square piece comming in at about $1167.00 and that wasn't type L . The buyer's instructions were contradictory as to who bought the material so I wanted to cover my bases. I then reached out to the CR4 community for some answers. Again this is New Years Eve. The RFQ gave me to the 3rd to place a bid and the 13th to deliver. Factoring in all these variables and the small shop I operate out of I thought it frugal to cancel the bid. Thanks for all your help and input.

roughly speaking 6"round steel bar is about 96 pounds per foot ( carbon and alloy density factor used folks not one specific for stainless)

2 foot long is 182 pounds call it 200#; I'd expect to pay $6-7$ per pound plus delivery charge from service center. did you try stainless and aluminum?

http://www.stainlessandaluminum.com/ ask for ed kondratt.

or try Yarde metals they are out east.

milo (tell him milo sent you)

I am familiar with Yarde Metals. As a matter of fact I was speaking to a sales man from yarde who droped in before the holidays not too long ago. However as I mentioned I canceled the bid but thank you anyway.

I just checked inventory, and my company has it in our stock for our use. (we build only ss products for sanitary use) For quoting purposes it lists at $33.53/inch, which represents our cost. Be aware we buy in large quantities, so your price may be higher. We obtain this from American Stainless or Ryerson.

I wish to thank everyone for your help. I feel I made another mistake by canceling the RFQ too early. CR4 is new to me and this is the first time I used it for my own research and it has proved to be most useful. I never expected so many timely responses which would have allowed me to place a bid in after all. Again I thank everyone and hope you all have a wonderful New Year!
