Testing High Resistance Grounds

01/06/2009 4:48 PM

In the near future my company is commissioning a new data center with a high resistance ground system. The system has 70 ohms of resistance on a three phase 600VAC configuration, any ideas on how to test the system?

Use an earth resistance tester. Three rod method or four rod method will do.

Should have been more clear on my intentions. We wre using a Post Glover system to monitor the ground current wit hvarious zero sequence CTs throughout the plant to locate faults. Would like to prove the functionality of the entire system.

Use Wenner 4 Pin method to establish Soil Resistivity.

correct Earth design is very critical for sensitive equipment safety & fault-free functioning.

There was a recent loss of above billion dirhams for equipment recently to a data center in UAE.
