Spot Welding SS304 and SS316

Can any one tell me the effect of spot welding on the mechanical properties of ss304 and ss316?

It can be done but depending on the enviroment will determine if it is the right proceedure. Need more info.

Both these materials spot weld well. How well the welds hold up depends on the application and the environment. Many references will advise using the -L (low carbon) versions of these steels in any application that involves welding, but again, it depends on the application. If I didn't understand the application I would specify the -L version.
