What is a HART Communicator?

Hi,

Can anybody may please explain the function of a Hart Communicator in lay man's term?? I am from mechanical engineering background and have read some articles reagrding the subject.

with help of Hart communicator we can calibrate diff types of level,pressure,temp transmiter......

HART means Highway Adressabsle remote transducer.By this u can remotely configure/simulate etc. your device or equipment.

Hart communication is a tools to communicate to the device for you to characteris the setting. also you may use to force mA output while you are connected.
