Hi All,

In one of the induction motor I found the rating as '60LBFT'.

Can any body tell me what is it & what is the equivalent in HP or KW

That means 60 foot pounds of torque, unstated to be per minute, but to horsepower... what kind... now that is horsepower of a different color... http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question622.htm http://www.unitconversion.org/energy/foot-pounds-to-horsepower-hours-conversion.html http://www.convertworld.com/en/power/Foot-pounds+per+minute.html http://www.markhorrell.com/tools/power.asp http://www.engnetglobal.com/tips/convert.asp?catid=12

foot pounds/sec ÷550.0 =hp
foot pounds/min ÷33000.0 =hp
foot pounds/sec ÷0.737562 =watts
foot pounds/min ÷44.25 =watts

GOOGLE IT!

LBFT is foot pounds.

Unusual to only state torque, but if this is full-load torque, you can get rated power in ft.lb/sec from torque x full-load speed in radians/sec. Then HP = ft.lb/sec/550.

If full-load speed = 1450 rpm (4-pole motor), power comes to 16.6 HP.

Cheers.........Codey
