Corrosion in 95% sulphuric acid service

01/12/2009 7:48 PM

We are experiencing some severe corrosion of relief valve discs and nozzles in 95% sulphuric acid service. The nozzles and discs material is 316 Ti. The piping class for this acid dosing packege is 11091. Any idea on a suitable replacement material?.

Inert plastics such as PVDF would be suitable. Check out a corrosion chart for compatible materials. There are several on-line, and a Google search will find them.
