Dear All,

Please tell me some thing about UPS Harmonics levels, what is the permissible level, how many level are there, how to calculate the Harmonics...?

Regards,

BVREDDY.

Hi Reddy,

Harmonic Level of UPS will depend on the type of inverter circuit used and is pretty large subject to explain through a reply here. To make a brief statement . harmonic attenuation can be achieved by several methods like pulse width modulation,by sine wave synthesis,LC filter, by polyphase inverters etc.and calculations will depend on each of therm and optimum level depends on your out put usage.

I hope you are from India. I advice you to get a copy of "Power Electronics " by P.C. Sen from any technical library and read (page nos. 839 to 849) You will get a fairly good idea about Reduction of Harmonics in inverters for UPS. After reading it if you have any further doubts please put up.

Dear Reddy,

Thanks. It is always good practice to acknowledge the reply.I feel, you may become a member and get the benefit of other senior members who prefer to reply to questions from members and some of them are good people with lot of expertise in their field. You can also share your experience. In our times we could only depend on Libraries and the books were very rare.In my younger days when ever I was in need of help I had to rush either to Engineering college Jabalpur or AMIE library at Jabalpur till we developed a good technical library for our organisation. Now you have the internet at hand avail the benefit.

ah, it s not an easy to answer. it will depend on your requirement. generally speak, 3-5% enough, even can be 10-20% for ordinary usage.

Its a difficult to answer how to calculate it. it depends on the type of filter and load. it usually use LC filter for output we can design it as sharp as possible fo r basic wave to get a good wave shape, but will get lower output power.

haha, add score, if you find useful.
