Using LEDs with a PNP Proximity Sensor

01/13/2009 10:01 AM

Hello friends,

I want to glow one 24V DC LED on output supply voltage of PNP proximity sensor. i.e. when proxi get switched, LED will glow. I tried by giving o/p of proxi to led & negative of DC;but failed. Help for this problem will be highly apreciated.

Thanks in advance..

Here's conventional scheme for PNP sensor. I'm supposing you have something like. Are you sure the LED fits to 24V? If you're not, try out ballast resistor (shown as phantom).

caramba, I think you'll find your LED is the wrong way round - it must be conducting (forward biased) to light up.

Oh Yes, JohnDG. You're absolutely right. I was mistaken with polarity as I used to work only with NPN sensors in my last projects. Thanks you've corrected me.

So hope it's right?

yes sir,

These leds are of 24volts; working well with DC supply.
